Win an Art Award! Fossil Day Art Competition and the Duck Stamp Competition- How to Apply plus Winning Examples

We’ve discovered many competitions for Young Artists to apply to. Winning an award can serve as a form of validation of your artistic skills and vision, offering a significant boost in motivation. External validation, such as winning art awards, can enhance your confidence and contribute to a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. Because of this, we’ve established an Art Competition Program, to help Young Artists apply for and win Art Awards.

These are two competitions that Ashcan Art Students apply to- The Fossil Day Art Competition and the Duck Stamp Competition, and examples from students enrolled in our Art Competition Program.

The Fossil Day Art Competition

The Fossil Day Art Competition is dedicated to promoting the scientific and educational values of fossils and paleontology, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our fossil heritage.

The Fossil Day Art Competition’s theme is to compare the work of an Archeologist and a Paleontologist, and how the work of these two professions are similar and are different.

The National Park Service protects natural and cultural resources in its parks, monuments, and recreation areas. At least 286 sites contain fossils, which paleontologists study to understand ancient life.

Paleontology is often confused with archaeology, which studies human history through cultural sites and artifacts. Many national parks preserve these remains, employing archaeologists and paleontologists to assist in their preservation and interpretation.

The National Park Service’s 2024 National Fossil Day art contest theme addresses the differences and similarities between archaeology and paleontology.

Ashcan’s Art Competition Program

If you enroll in Ashcan Arts Art Competition Program these are two contests you can focus on.

Ashcan’s Art Competition Program offers a structured platform for students to cultivate a distinctive and cohesive portfolio, an essential asset for pursuing higher studies in the arts. Our personalized approach empowers students to channel their creativity into personal projects, honing their artistic skills while fostering creative thinking. With an emphasis on two-dimensional mediums like drawing, painting, and mixed media, students create exceptional pieces that showcase their capabilities.

Tailoring our curriculum to each season, we collaborate closely with students to select the most suitable art competitions. As deadlines and themes vary, every session introduces fresh opportunities. While themes change, the core remains constant: students craft an original body of work, encompassing various mediums. A foundational understanding of multiple techniques enhances the depth of their creations.

Our comprehensive guidance navigates students through the competition journey. From selecting the right contest aligned with their interests, conducting theme-based research, and grasping copyright nuances, to assembling mood boards and sketches, each stage is meticulously structured. We foster an environment of creativity by providing an array of art supplies exclusively within the studio setting.

As competitions may require a brief essay or form submission, we prepare students with effective communication skills to complement their visual talents. The range of prizes, from cash rewards to esteemed recognition, strengthens students’ portfolios and resumes, bolstering their profile in either high school or college applications.

Upon completing their artwork, we facilitate a professional photoshoot to ensure the submission aligns with competition requirements. Our team assists in seamless online submissions, taking care of necessary details. For competitions with mail-in submissions, we provide packaging guidance and addresses. Although postage is the responsibility of the parent, we ensure every other aspect is taken care of, maintaining a hassle-free process.
