Admissions:

  • Students applying for First Year Placement in the B.Arch program must submit all additional application materials electronically through SlideRoom.

  • SAT or ACT: All undergraduate applicants that have completed less than twenty-four (24) college level hours/units as of the date of the deadline are required to submit official test results from either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) or the American College Test (ACT). All test scores should be received no later than the appropriate application deadline. For more information about these exams, please visit http://www.collegeboard.com or http://www.act.org. SCI-Arc’s SAT School Code is 1575;
    SCI-Arc’s ACT School Code is 0423.
  • GRE: Applicants to the M.Arch 1 or M.Arch 2 programs are required to submit official test scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test. All test scores should be received no later than the appropriate application deadline. For more information on the GRE, go to http://www.ets.org/gre. SCI-Arc’s GRE School Code is 2781.
  • TOEFL/IELTS: All international students applying from non-English speaking countries are required to submit official test scores from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum score requirement is ninety (90) for the internet-based TOEFL, a five-hundred-and-eighty-three (583) for the paper-based TOEFL, or a six-point-five (6.5) band score for the IELTS. All test scores should be received no later than the appropriate application deadline. Students who have completed a minimum of two years of formal instruction at an institution where English is the primary language of instruction may be eligible to waive this requirement. Please contact the Admissions Office for detailed information regarding this process. Only test scores completed within the past two years will be accepted. For more information on the TOEFL and IELTS, please visit http://www.toefl.org or http://www.ielts.org. SCI-Arc’s TOEFL School Code is 7802.
  • Portfolio: All applicants are required to submit a portfolio of creative work. Portfolios should consist of a minimum of 15 pieces of creative work. Individuals who have no formal architectural education or experience should include work that demonstrates his/her visual design sensibilities, sense of form and space, experience with different materials or media, craftsmanship, and imagination. This work may include but is not limited to: drawings, sketches, photography, painting, sculpture, ceramics, or wood and metal work. Applicants with a background in architecture are expected to present appropriately documented architectural projects in place of or in addition to other creative work.

Applicants applying for First Year Placement in the B.Arch program will submit their portfolio electronically through SlideRoom. Only printed and bound portfolios will be accepted for the B.Arch Advanced Placement, M.Arch 1, M.Arch 2, ESTm and SCIFI programs. Printed portfolios larger than 10×13 inches and smaller than 5×7 inches will NOT be accepted. Please do not submit originals-your portfolio should contain scanned images or photographs of the original work. Your name and the program in which you are applying must appear clearly on the front of the portfolio. Portfolios of students who are accepted and enroll at SCI-Arc will be kept and become property of SCI-Arc’s Admissions Office.
