If you have completed less than 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) at the time of your application, Secondary School Transcripts and SAT/ ACT scores are required

10-20 Pieces The 10-20 pieces of your best artwork that you choose to submit should demonstrate an understanding of pictorial composition, creativity/originality of ideas, drawing and design ability, a sense for the use of materials, attention to detail, and craftsmanship. The work can be from a variety of media and subject matter. We’re looking for good traditional drawing skills as well as artwork relevant to your artistic interests.
3 to 6 Pieces Drawn from Observation Include a minimum of three to six drawings made by direct observation (not copied from photographs, comics, or “fantasy”). Drawings should demonstrate a full range of tonal values and a variety of line quality.
Creativity and Craftsmanship The craftsmanship in a work of art is as important as the ideas presented. You can demonstrate creativity through innovative ideas and content, interesting composition, and proficient use of materials.
Acceptable Media Formats Images (up to 5 MB each), Video (up to 60 MB each), Audio (up to 30 MB each) and PDFs (up to 10 MB each). You may also link to media from YouTube, Vimeo and SoundCloud

The College Essay
At RIT, the essay requirement is broad to allow students the flexibility to write about what they’d like. Students can submit an essay they’ve written for a class, a professional statement-why they are interested in a career field or major, an essay about themselves which tells us more about what makes them unique, or a significant event in their life…the skies the limit!
Here are some pointers:
1. Choose a meaningful topic. Whether it’s a topic on why you’re passionate about computers, or community service, if you choose a topic you’re passionate about, it will reflect in your essay. Shouldn’t it be easier to write about things you know about?
2. Tell them more. You application will already include your transcript and test scores. Tell them something that we wouldn’t know already from your other application pieces.
3. But, get to the point. While the essay typically will have a beginning, middle, and end, don’t go on and on. They don’t set specific length guidelines and read everything that is submitted with the application. However, don’t think that your essay has to be long for it to be good.
4. Edit. It sounds basic, but re-read your essay. Have other people read your essay. Have your English teacher read your essay. While the topic is very important, so is the need to have a well-written essay with no spelling errors or grammatical mistakes
