PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER PROGRAM – SCULPTURE
WEDNESDAYS 10-2 & 3-7
Sculptural techniques are taught in three broad categories; clay modeling, mold making and casting, and assemblage. Students learn how to develop their ideas in three- dimensional media, and may at times create works that combine two and three-dimensional media. The curriculum culminates in the completion of a series of sculptures that display formal and conceptual maturity.
Ashcan Studio’s Visual Arts Programs provides middle school, high school and college students with an intensive Visual Arts learning experience. Together, faculty and students prepare for the art school admissions process and the creative development of an outstanding portfolio.
The Visual Art Programs at Ashcan will help you stimulate creative and critical thinking through the practice of experimentation in the studio. Process, open- dialogue, and familiarization with materials are all promoted and focused upon. We encourage artistic expression and experimentation in order to develop skills, confidence, and openness to new creative ideas and cultures.
