Ashcan Student Aida P took an observational painting of coral for her art portfolio, and turned into a sculpture and installation inspired by her coral observational painting.
She took apart and used small plastic babies to make the coral sculptures, to represent the vulnerability of the coral ecosystem. Then she placed boxes around them to represent protect them from the world.
She then projected an image of the ocean onto the sculptures, so that they appear just as actual coral would.
Aida will be attending The Fashion Institute of Technology for Fine Art in the Fall!
