SVA 1 + 3 Program
Chaewon was enrolled in Ashcan’s SVA 1+3 program and was accepted in to SVA with a $25,000 scholarship!
We designed the SVA 1+3 Program in partnership with The School of Visual Arts (SVA) for transfer students interested in pursuing a BFA degree at SVA. In this program you can earn college credits at Ashcan Art to transfer to the School of Visual Arts while you’re completing your Art Portfolio.

SVA Transfer
Our 1+3 program is specially designed for transfer students. In this program, students can earn college credits at Ashcan Art while completing their portfolio. We currently have a transfer credit agreement with the School of Visual Arts, in New York City.

SVA officially accepts studio credit from Ashcan Art students entering SVA’s Foundation year programs.
School of Visual Art ‘1 +3’ Program?
Our 1+3 program is specially designed for transfer students. In this program, students can earn college credits at Ashcan Studio while completing their portfolios.
The School of Visual Arts is widely recognized as one of the finest schools in the country, for its innovative and experimental program philosophies, its participation in the cultural life of New York City, and the accessibility it offers to its unparalleled faculty of professional artists.
In a transfer credit agreement with the School of Visual Arts, students at Ashcan Art may earn course credits that are transferrable to SVA. In this program, students may earn credits equivalent to one year of education at SVA, as long as they continue their undergraduate studies at SVA in one of the following five majors: Fine Arts, Cartooning, Design, Illustration, or Advertising.
Students can earn up to eighteen credits at Ashcan Art, in Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, and Design.
Who is eligible?
To earn these credits at Ashcan Art, students must also earn (or have earned) at least twelve liberal arts credits at an accredited institution. Accredited institutions include community colleges, which typically allow enrollment for students with lower proficiency test scores. They also include most foreign colleges and universities. This is an excellent, affordable option for transfer students who want to get a head start at one of New York’s top art schools.
