The sooner you get started on your portfolio the better. Most schools require 10-15 pieces for your portfolio, so you should shoot to make 20 + so you can pick the best of the best to submit to admissions. Nothing shines through like loving what you do. So while there are certain things you need for a complete portfolio like still lifes, portraits , self portraits... you can make them much more appeaing to Pratt admissions if it looks like you enjoyed making it!
